Hey readers!

Well, since it's more than a month after my last update, I guess its time to do another movie review again.

This time, I'm going for the big one.

Godzilla

Review Title: Let Them Fight

After waiting for such a long time, I can definitely say that this movie doesn't disappoint me at all.

If you are looking for a movie that gives you fantastic-storytelling and great character development, no, this is not what you are looking for. But if you want an insanely-epic and heart-pumping monster movie, this is perhaps one of the best, if not the best monster movie for you.

The main character of this movie is Godzilla itself as it is a fucking beast, tearing shits apart and his enemies, the MUTOs are developed believably and logically too. Best part was when Godzilla used his signature Atomic Breathe, epicness was flowing through my veins during that very moment.

I have to give a nod to the director Gareth Edwards for setting the right standards and letting Godzilla played out like how it truly was. I'm not a big Godzilla fan, but at least I knew some facts about Godzilla and how it works, so the 1998's version by Roland Emmerich is nothing compared to this because that Godzilla looks like pussy comparing with this.

As expected, the CGI in this movie is superb. So much better than Transformers and Pacific Rim combined.

From the first Godzilla movie from Japan in 1954 until 2014, we have come a long way.

Heartbroken Tales

It's been a long time since I last updated my blog, so here I am.

Watched two Oscar-winning movies yesterday.
Gonna make a review out of both movies.

12 Years A Slave (2013)

So, this movie just won the Best Picture three days ago at the 86th Academy Awards. Tempted by it so I've decided to give it a try.

To be honest, it's not really a masterpiece in my opinion.
The story dates back to the 1840's about a free black man named Solomon Northup living with his wife and his children in New York. He was then lured by two con artists, kidnapped and sold to other states.

Upon watching this movie, I feel like it dragged way too long and there are too many unnecessary prolonging shots. Perhaps the Director (Steve McQueen) was trying to be artistic with those still shots of maybe river, sky, trees but I felt nothing but blandness. 

The acting by the Chiwetel Ejiofor is pretty decent, I can really feel his strong emotion throughout the entire movie. One thing though, it's that I just don't understand how come Lupita Nyongo's not so extradordinary performance can win her an Oscar for the Best Supporting Actress.

Other than that, the storytelling is pretty okay, not great. His interactions with his family are so little that it's forgettable throughout the film. The sudden appearance by Brad Pitt is also pretty dull and uninteresting and the movie just ends in a not so climatic way. Yes there are maybe a few suspenses here and there but it's not really a Best Picture-worthy movie.

And trust me, don't let your kids watch this movie. Quite many mature contents inside.

If you really wanna watch a movie similar to this, I suggest watching Django Unchained. That movie is way fucking better and the acting by Jamie Foxx, Christoph Waltz and of course Leonardo DiCaprio was superb in that movie.

Overall, a 7/10 for this movie.

Second Oscar-winning movie that I've watched is this,

Lost In Translation (2003)

Lost In Translation is a movie about a faded movie star Bob Harris (Bill Murray) and a neglected newly-wed wife Charlotte (Scarlett Johansson) forming an unlikely bond during their sudden cross-paths in Tokyo, Japan.

Halfway through watching this movie I was thinking to myself that "Oh god, not other bland movie again". 

And then I realized this movie is really about the feelings and the emotions. Us as the viewers, should really kickback, relax and forgot about all our stresses in order to enjoy this movie. I always wondered why Scarlett Johansson was considered as one of the hottest actress in Hollywood, I find her not so pretty after all. But after watching this movie, my thoughts has changed. She is really beautiful in this movie, and I mean fucking beautiful. 

Bob is travelling to Japan for a few commercial-shootings whereas Charlotte is here with her newly-wed husband. Both of them are staying in the same hotel and are facing insomnia and they both felt neglected by their loved-ones. Bob occasionally talk on the phone his wife back in America but he just doesn't feel the love with his family while Charlotte's husband is leaving for work everyday, leaving her alone in the hotel room. Then one night, both of them cross-path.

The bond formed between Bob and Charlotte are not the sexual kind, instead, it's more about mutual trust and admiration. And both of their performances are fantastic I must say. Yes, it's pretty boring during some of the scenes but if you really put your heart into this movie, it's actually a great movie.

The third main point of this movie is none other than the city Tokyo itself. From the bright colors of the buildings to the noises of the crowd on the street, even the natural shrines and temples faraway from the city areas. It's all really soothing to look at.

I recommend this movie to all of you. If you are looking for a fun-time, this is not the movie for you. This is more like you trying to find yourself, trying to feel yourself by indulging yourself into the movie.

For relaxting times, make it Lost in Translation times.

TOP 10 : My List of Top 10 Movies of 2013

Please take note this list might differ from others because obviously I didn't watch all the movies from 2013, even some popular ones. So, if your favorite movie is not on this list, then please remember this ya.

Well, let's get started shall we?

10. Man Of Steel

Example of an over-hyped and over-budget movie. I actually even considered not putting this on this list. But to give Christopher Nolan credits, here it is, sitting in the 10th spot.

9. Pacific Rim

 A pretty good action flick I must say. Big robots fighting big monsters, nothing could go wrong right?
Damn, that reminds me of Transformers 2, yea, that went wrong.

8. Iron Man 3

Personally, I'm not really a big fan of Iron Man. But this is definitely one of the best superhero movie of the year. Robert Downey Jr. is as excellent as always, and Gwyneth Paltrow, oh yeah she's pretty. Overall a very enjoyable film, and that fucking Mandarin, hahahaha!

7. World War Z

Fast-as-shit zombies, stack-and-pile zombies, gruesome zombies, that is why this movie is so awesome.

I've always doubted this movie, looks like any other over-budget and over-effect movie. Turns out it's pretty decent. A little bit of unexpected plot, good turning point of the story line and great acting by who else, Brad Pitt of cause.

6. The Lone Ranger

A pretty underrated movie of this year. Many people were telling me that this movie sucked. But I think it's pretty good. Johnny Depp never ceases to amaze us with his wonderful acting and the overall movie is hilarious and great. I really enjoyed this movie.

5. Kick-Ass 2

Chloe Grace Moretz, Chloe Grace Moretz, Chloe Grace Moretz, Chloe Grace Moretz, Chloe Grace Moretz, Chloe Grace Moretz, Chloe Grace Moretz!

Well, the first Kick-Ass was already a damn good comedy/action flick and now you add Jim Carrey into it, oh yeah now this is a fucking good movie. Last but not least, Chloe Grace Moretz please!

4. Fast and Furious 6

The Fast and Furious series is definitely heading towards the correct direction. With Justin Lin as the new director since the previous episodes (excluding Tokyo Drift), it has grown into one of the most epic franchise in the recent years.

To sum up this movie, it is jaw-dropping, blood-pumping, fast-racing, gun-blazing, aeroplane-jumping, highway-jumping, anywhere-jumping good! Yea, some scenes were too fake, but still it has earned a place in all of our hearts. R.I.P Paul Walker.

3. This Is The End

A movie that was meant to enjoy and not taken seriously. And prepare to laugh your ass off. If you still haven't seen this, go and download it now!

2. Gravity

Gravity is definitely the break-through film this year. With excellent and creative camera-works and Oscar-worthy performance by Sandra Bullock, it's definitely one of many's favourite selection of No.1 movie of this year. To check out my full review of this movie, click HERE.

1. The Hobbit 2: The Desolation of Smaug

Seriously, were you guys expecting something else?

This movie is already a masterpiece, all-round perfect movie.

Great music-score, epic and beautiful scenery (well have to include this one because the places are just too damn beautiful), nice storyline (based on the book of course), a group of adorable dwarfs and more and more.

Well, all the beautiful memories of Lord the of Rings are coming back, damn I'm gonna cry.

Why do I have to wait a year for the sequel? Damn, December of 2014 comes faster please!

A Beauty A Week #6 vs. GRAVITY!

Well, I'm not a fan of Glee, but I think no one can disagree with me that Dianna Agron is superbly beautiful in that show.

Imagining her in the cheerleader costume is like holy shit!

Once again she's still a young actress, and has a long road ahead in her career.

Let's just wish her all the best.

As a super-movie-maniac myself, after seeing a lot of great reviews about this movie, of cause I won't waste even a single chance to go and watch and know about what's so great about this movie.

And here's my review of Gravity.

By saying that this is one of this year's top film, I can go with that.
Anyone remembers the famous tagline from the movie Alien?

''In space, no one can hear you scream.''

Well, that tagline goes really well in this movie.

First of all, this movie gives off a very authentic feeling of Space. Oscar-winners Sandra Bullock and George Clooney gave off a superb performance, especially Sandra Bullock, people are saying that her performance in here will win her another Oscar.

The darkness of the vast galaxy, imagine yourself wandering aimlessly in that place, you wouldn't want that to happen.

The camera-work is fantastic, it makes you dizzy but yet it makes you feel like you are there, inside the perspective of an astronaut. It's a weird yet awesome feelings.

If you are a casual movie go-er, you will find that this movie doesn't suit your taste at all because it focuses on more the story-telling, the dialogue especially, I love the dialogues in this movie, the interaction between Bullock and Clooney is really fun to watch.

One of the purpose of this movie is to give you the claustrophobic feeling of being in Space, it keeps you on the edge of your seat and you will find yourself going through one hell of a ride.

I may not say this is a masterpiece, but it's certainly a great movie this year.

500 Days Of Summer from the year 2009 is one of the best love movie that I've ever watched, well, if this is counted as a love story, or is this just a story of a boy meets girl?

The storyline is intriguingly original, it's sort of like romance version of Memento, the only difference is that Memento is much more complicated, oh yeah and Memento is a thriller/suspense film.

Most of the romance we've seen are solely based on guy meeting a girl, they fall in love, they have troubles in their relationship but they eventually get back together and live happily ever after.

This movie is difference, it is one of those movie that you will watch it repeatedly and it is still amazing and even get better than the last time you've watched it.

Trust me, you have got to watch it yourselves to experience it. Not to mention the music score of this movie is excellent too.
Warning: Tears will be shed during the movie.

After watching this movie, I realized one thing,
there are no miracles and fate in love,
Chances are out there for you to grab.

Man Of Steel?

Well, finished watching Man Of Steel 2 days ago.
To be honest, it's below my expectation.
I know many people are going to disagree with me, but I just feel like it doesn't have a good story-telling.

I'm too lazy to explain, but if you want to know how I feel about this movie,

I rated the movie around 6.5 or 7/10.
I wish I could rate it higher after being so excited for so many months, but it turns out I can't.

After all, no one can beats Master Nolan's masterpieces, TDK and TDKR.
I repeat, no one.


Oh yeah, I also happened to watch Afterearth last week.
That one even worst.
Also damn lazy to explain why it sucked.
It just sucked so bad.

The Fall of the Sky

IT'S NOVEMBER!

Went and watched Skyfall today with my girl.
Well, as kid we all loved watching James Bond movies.
And don't lie to me, all you boys enjoyed all the James Bond sex scenes with the bond girls right?
Hahahaha, but as we all grow up, we learnt that the main thing about James Bond's movie ain't about the sex scenes, it's actually about the storyline!
OH MY GOD! What a discovery!
Okay, cut the crap, here's the review of the latest 007 installment.

Well, this is pretty darn good.

I didn't watch Casino Royale but I did watched Quantum of Solace,

and this is definitely way better than Quantum of Solace.

After Sean Connery, Roger Moore, Pierce Brosnan,

and here comes Daniel Craig.

He did a great job as portraying the fearless Agent 007,

I super duper love him.

This is the first time we see Agent 007 as a normal human being.

James Bond will fall too. He is not perfect, he will grow old and he won't be performing 100% well in his missions, the movie is balanced with all the action scenes and also the talking scenes.

And when the opening credits scene started showing with Adele's voice singing the movie's soundtrack,

''Skyfall'', it's fucking awesome.

Go and watch it now, but please don't go to Mid Valley's GSC,

it's packed like fuck.

Go to somewhere else, that's the advice for you.

Rated 8.5/10.

Hey guys! I'm back for more movie reviews!
If you are a regular reader of my blog you will definitely know that reviewing movies that I've just finished watching at the cinema is one of my favourite hobby, and so let's get into it :)

First one is a movie that I've watched for like one and a half month ago and since I forgotten to review it,

 might as well do it now.

Prometheus

Said to be the prequel to the Ridley Scott's Sci-Fi masterpiece Alien, this movie was even voted for the most anticipated movie of this year.

And fortunately, Ridley Scott does not disappoint me at all.

It starts off pretty slowly but once the action started, the fun begins.

Michael Fassbender did a superb job as the robot David, his acting is incredibly well-delivered.

Other than that, Charlize Theron is fucking hot as usual. :P

It is not very hard to understand if you concentrate on the movie, so I guess it's pretty accessible for me.

I gave it a 8/10.

The Dark Knight Rises

Yes you are right, I watched this in IMAX.
After a year of waiting, finally I am able to watch it.

Christopher Nolan brings the Dark Knight trilogy to an epic conclusion, 

and this movie is definitely epic enough to be the movie of the year,

 way fucking better than The Avengers.

This movie is superbly well-made, the huge production value makes it one of a kind in this year.

Not to mention that the cinematic effect is just incredible.

Well, Christian Bale is back once again as Bruce Wayne, the Batman, he delivers a great performance just as usual. Anne Hathaway is the beautiful and tricky Catwoman. But the one who completely stolen the spotlight is definitely the villain of this movie, Bane, whom is acted by Tom Hardy. I think his performance is on par with Heath Ledger's Joker in the last movie. His menacing actions and the havoc that he breaks is the main attraction of this movie.

Anyway, here's a movie spoiler for all of you that still haven't watch this movie:

Bruce Wayne is BATMAN!

Overall, it is a truly amazing movie but I think the second movie, The Dark Knight is still better than this one.

I gave it a 9/10.

Hari ini saya pergi ke KLCC tengok wayang dengan girl saya.

Sebenarnya mau tengok tengok itu sales Fred Perry punya, tapi 50% semua sudah jual habis la, tinggal yang 20-40% sahaja dan sangat mahal la, akhirnya saya tidak ada beli.

Kami pergi tengok wayang The Amazing Spider-Man.

Well, let's go back to english for a while.

Seriously, when we heard about remakes in movies, most of us will be like,

''Yucks, another remake?''

To be honest, this is actually a pretty good one.

The storyline is accessible, it's comedic and action-packed at the same time,
and I think most girls will fall in love with Andrew Garfield while the boys will dig Emma Stone for sure.

Although it's not on par with The Dark Knight, but still, it's a damn good superhero movie and I would like to see another sequel of it.

Just be sure to sit through the end of the first credit scenes after finishing the movie.

Rated: 8/10

Hear strange noises outside... Have sex!

So this post is just solely about a movie review, please be patience, I will write about something meaningful in the next post.

Today went KLCC and watched Cabin in the Woods with my friends.

To be honest, I hereby declare that this is one of the most underrated movie in this year.

Why would I say so? Well, you are just right about to find out.

Firstly, I know each and every people have their own opinion, own point of view, so I'm not surprised by the amount of people that give this movie a negative rating.
This movie is special, I've never seen this kind of movie before, I mean for real.
The one that comes close may be the slasher classic Scream, I'm sure many of you've saw that movie before.

But the point is, this horror movie totally parodies the shit out of every other horror/thriller/slasher movies out there.

At first you thought that this is just going to be any other ordinary horror movie, a group of teenagers going on a vacation, while passing by an old gas station with a creepy old man inside, then to a wooden cabin inside a remote forest, with a lake nearby. Sounds not so original huh? 

Just wait till you see the epic twist in the movie.

Some people will say this movie is ridiculous, some say it's a pile of bullshit, but for me, it's really fresh and original. It's special in a unique kind of way that I can't tell. Not to mention that the suspense in this movie is fucking hard.

In conclusion, I suggest you all go and watch this movie and make the judgment yourself, I know many of you won't like it, but to me, it's definitely one of a kind.

I suppose this is one of the blockbuster of this year? Well, it's kinda slow-paced and didn't really catch my full attention at all, oh yeah, I guess there may be a second episode of this too, let's just wait, but I won't give this a high rating.

A star-studded film, yes , I really enjoyed watching this movie. Not really as emotional as what I've expected, but still, this gives me the best impression out of all the 4 movies.

So people, how's your Chinese New Year?
Well, I've been living the past 3 days pretty well.
You know, the usual thing, go there go here, take this angpau take that angpau, and of cause gambling with all my relatives.

Btw, I've watched 3 different movies in the past 3 nights, let's review each of em.

First movie is I Love Hong Kong 2012.


Well, I think it's a pretty good one though. For me I think that the purpose of CNY movies is that to make all of us forget about the stresses in our lives and just enjoy the movies with no regret. This movie is no exception. It's cheesy at times but the parodies and jokes in this movie were pretty well doned.
A solid 7/10.


Second movie is Ah Beng: Three Wishes.

Produced by the people under Astro, you know this movie won't go wrong with all the familiar casts once again. For me I think last year's 天天好天 is better than this one, but still, the storyline is more unique and better than I Love Hong Kong 2012, so I give this a pretty good 7.5/10.


Last movie that I've watched is All's Well End's Well 2012.

Okay, normally I think that the 黄百鸣's movies are always the worst one out of these 3. But this year this movie is kinda out of my expectation. I just don't know why, I think this is the best out of all the 3. I simply love the storyline and the jokes inside are way better than the previous two movies. Not to mention that the girl 楊冪 is very pretty, LOL.
8/10.

Yeah yeah yeah, shit tons of people've been talking and shouting about this movie recently.
And I've watched it last Friday at Pavillion with my classmates.

Yeah, you're right, it's time for another movie review!

Giddens Ko, also known as 九把刀, revamped his popular-selling novel into a movie and guess what, the outcome is fucking satisfying.

Not long into the movie you will find yourselves laughing into some of the most yellow but yet funny shits that are going on in the movie.

But before that, this movie is strictly for matured audiences only.
Why? Because we all know that Giddens Ko is not any ordinary man, he can be crazy, romantic, gory shits and all sorts of other bizzare stuffs at a same time. And this is why we love him.

Well, if you are his loyal novels' reader, you will notice that some of the lines in the movie were taken directly from his novels, which is good!
It reminds me of a lot of the memorable stuffs from his novel too.

Giddens Ko sure put a lot of his thoughts into his works, he definetely deserves prizes.

The movie, hysterical yet meaningful, is definitely the Chinese Blockbuster of the year, be sure to check it out if you managed to buy the tickets.

Another Movie Review

Well, yesterday went Times Square to celebrate Terence's birthday.

Anyway, let's just cut this short and straight to the point.
Me and my fellow buddies watched Johnny English Reborn yesterday.
And we're lucky that the cinema hall that we are sitting is the newly-built Max Hall in GSC Times Square.
The hall can fit like 400++ people, so fucking huge.

The movie.

First of all, the movie is really funny and hilarious.
But still, most of the laughs are very predictable, either way, I still enjoyed sitting through this comedy flick lead by none other than the funny Rowan Atkinson.

Although we consider this movie to be like those types of ''废'' movie, but if you wanna have a great laugh, this movie is definitely a must for you.

I give it a 7.5/10.

Just another movie-reviewing post of a film that I've watched yesterday with my buddy Yue.

APOLLO 18
First off, before watching I've already received quite many negative feedbacks about this movie.
Well, for me, this movie is quite okay, not bad nor good either.

One thing that I wanna mention is that the scares in this movie are SUPER FUCKING predictable.
You can sense them coming, so the surprise value in this movie is fully gone.
But the plot overall is okay, nothing new though, just two gays called to do some operation on Moon and they got fucked up there.

Anyway, the characters in this movie are kinda dull. Nothing special and no developments from them at all, but still this is what makes this movie good.
Movie like this doesn't need long introductions or shits about the characters, just show them getting freak out in front of cameras will do.

In conclusion, it's a 6/10.
An average horror movie, but I still prefer Quarantine in this kind of cam-style horror movie.
So... :)


Anyway, I wanna watch Nasi Lemak 2.0!

I'm proud to say that I just finished streaming 2 Movies just now.
It's been such a long time since I last clicked my PPStream just to watch some goddamn movies.
Time to review em'!


127 Hours

Basically it's about a hiker getting stucked under a canyon creek.
I may say that this movie keeps you on the edge of your seat the whole time.
Oh yeah, James Franco is quite good in this one!
Especially the near-end of the movie, so goddamn intense!
8.5 / 10


The Blind Side

The blockbuster of this post!
Sandra Bullock won an Oscar for this one!
Superb performance by her, oh yeah not to mention Quinton Aaron,
that big guy is great too!
Touching storyline, it keeps on play with your mind and makes you wanna know what the next scenes are.
Be sure to watch this great film ya.

Like A Boss

Okay, yesterday was Sports Day but I didn't go,

I am too lazy to wake up for it, then until 2pm suddenly HaoShen tell me that he and LCC are going MV, stupid LCC didn't tell me... Then I called him and ask ask ask ask,
Was struggling to tell my mum to let me go to MV,
But in the end I still went to MV....

Went there and met up with my friends, and then ate lunch with Yue, Vincz and YuRong,
after that went Gardens to buy tickets for the movie Fast And Furious 4,

Well, I think the main point of this post is about the movie though,
VERY NICE !!

It's just like one hell of a ride, but, too bad, Spoilers (Highlight the white line if u want to know): Michelle Rodriguez died so early in the movie, she didnt' have enough role =.=, but I like Jordana Brewster though... Vin Diesel appears the most in the movie but he is quite hot for me :O....

The chasing and the race scene are just so intense, I think it's definitely the best sequel among all the 4, but our seats sucks, we all sat in the 2nd and 3rd row, my eyes quite hurt by watching like that, but it's okay...

Overall for me rated 8 / 10,

After that went out wait my parents come fetch me and went to eat dinner,
Braised Duck, very nice :D...

Then went home by that =)
